BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Presentation from the Chair of the Black History Working Group, Veronica Williams, on the 2010 programme and on how to make 2011 an even bigger success.

HEALTH AND WELL BEING IN SUTTON

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a duty that has been place jointly on Local Authority and NHS. The term JSNA is interchangeably used to mean a process or report that  identifies “the big picture” in terms of the health and wellbeing needs and inequalities for the whole of the local community, including care groups, non-resident users and often non-registered groups (for example refugees and asylum seekers) for whom there is responsibility. Fiona Harris, Joint Consultant in Public Health will present the latest update of the Sutton and Merton JSNA and lead a discussion on information sources that can help inform future updates particularly with regard to the changing diversity of the local population in Sutton.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES AND EQUALITY IN SUTTON

Presentation by the National Health Service Sutton and Merton on marketing research into what motivates/stops local people from pursuing healthier lifestyles.  The research was targeted at different equality groups and the findings are interesting and could be used by the council and partners in future to influence public health work.

ROMANY ME - FILM FROM THE SUTTON TRAVELLERS FORUM

Presentation by Ambition and the showing of the award winning film “Romany Me” which follows the life of a young Romany girl as she battles the age old hatred of her age.  The film has been made by amateur actors or actresses and the cast is made up of the community and a community group.
